Clichés about constellation work, such as incense sticks, voodoo spells and sitting around a campfire singing, are still prevalent in esotericism.

But there is so much more to it than that…

Constellation work helps us to better understand and view connections holistically. This is because the origin of a blockage is often hidden at first glance.

What topics can be addressed in organisational constellations?

Any topic can be addressed, whether professional or personal.

During the session, participants act as representatives of individuals or abstract elements (e.g. feelings, products or values) and provide valuable insights into their relationships with each other. Constellations reveal and visualise relationship patterns, communication structures and dynamics. This shows whether the individual elements and/or people have a positive relationship with each other or if there are any blockages.

The constellation concludes with a solution image, which the client then uses for further actions.

To give you an idea of what this involves, I have summarised three topics and insights from the last constellation evening:

Starting a business

As a constellation facilitator, when starting a business, I place the founder, the service/product, the customers and money in a room and observe how they relate to each other.

I question the individual representatives and receive direct feedback:

• What needs to be considered to make the start-up idea successful?
• Is the idea or product well received or not?
• What is needed to ensure that customer satisfaction and willingness to pay for the service/product?

A systemic view of the start-up shows me whether the product and/or idea is ready for the market and if the customers are willing to pay for it.

Career discussions

In this scenario, everyone involved in the conversation is represented, as well as non-physical elements such as superiors, colleagues and elements such as salary and demands. Representatives can also be used to represent non-physical elements and emotions.

I question the representatives to uncover dynamics:

• How should I approach the negotiations so that my wishes are heard?
• How does my supervisor perceive my career aspirations?
• Do my superiors/colleagues support my wishes?

Additionally, private issues can be unconsciously projected onto the workplace. Unfortunately, if they remain unresolved there and begin to interfere. The constellation reveals these issues. If the issue that affects the client, it can be resolved directly. The initially difficult situation then resolves itself.

Cooperation with colleagues

A potential collaboration is based primarily on skills and strengths, as well as the prospect of achieving more together and the sympathy factor. As with starting a business, success and/or failure becomes apparent in the course of collaboration.

The difference is that one to many cooperation partners merge and each bringing their own potential obstacles.

The components are the same as when starting a business, but the relationship between the partners is also examined, which makes all the difference:

• What is the relationship between the representatives of the cooperation partners?
• Can an effective structure be established in order to maintain positive energy?
• Do the cooperation partners share the same values/share the same vision for good cooperation?

The constellation reveals whether cooperation partners are pulling in the same direction or pursuing different interests. It also reveals unconscious blockages, resolving which leads to good cooperation.
